Working With Us

Barnabas is interested in connecting potential donors to real needs that come under our mission. We believe in the principal of connecting donors more closely with the people they are supporting. With Barnabas, you know where your donations are going and have a more direct connection with the people you are supporting. If you know of a particular need and have a group of interested donors in supporting that need, then we would like to hear from you. We have a process that we use to review new requests. To become a supported project of the Barnabas Almsgiving Fund the following requirements must be met:

  1. First and foremost, the need must fit within our mission to meet the needs of people, especially fellow Christians, who have insufficient means to meet their needs for food, clothing, shelter, medical treatment, and education.
  2. We also need assurance that there are donors who are interested in supporting that need. The Barnabas Almsgiving Fund is a lean, all-volunteer organization. That keeps our overhead very low, but it also limits the amount of fundraising we can do as an organization. So we rely on individuals, like yourself, who are passionate about helping others to make known, by word of mouth or any means at your disposal, the needs you want to meet and to recruit individuals willing to donate to that cause.
  3. We need a reliable Administrator of the funds who will receive, disburse, and account for the funds as they are spent. If this is a Catholic organization, then we prefer that the bishop of the local Diocese provides their approval of the effort and vouches for the person administering the funds. A priest or religious sister or organization is considered a reliable Administrator. For non-Catholic organizations and needs, please contact us to discuss who would serve as a trustworthy Administrator of the funds we send.
  4. We need a designated “Advocate” for the need. The Advocate helps to make the needs of individuals known to the Board and serves as an intermediary between the Board and those individuals and the Administrator. The Advocate seeks out stories, photos, and other information that not only documents that the funds were used for the intended purpose but can also be used by Barnabas for promotional materials to help solicit additional funds. The Advocate may also personally help to solicit funds for the needs they represent.

We are happy to work with you and look forward to hearing about your proposals for new projects that the Barnabas Almsgiving Fund may adopt. Please contact us at info@barnabasalms.org.
